ugly truth about expertise on linkedin

Confession:

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with social media for years.

Everyone is going to immediately unfollow us.

But this couldn’t be further from the truth.

In reality:

You only need to be 1-2 steps ahead of the person you’re trying to help.

Which is why “expertise” (in the traditional sense) doesn’t really matter on LinkedIn.

(or any other platform, for that matter)

You don’t need fancy degrees, credentials, or qualifications.

You don’t need to be an “expert.”

You just need first-hand experience of DOING the thing you’re posting about…

Whatever that may be.

Whether it’s writing emails…

Getting in shape…

Unf*cking your personal finances…

Underwater basketweaving…

Or anything else.

Most people actually PREFER to follow and learn from someone who’s only 1-2 steps ahead of them.

Not the World Champion of Copywriting.

Or Olympic Gold Medallist in Canva Design.
