the “catch-22” of client work

Full disclosure:

I started my first email list back in 2018 to practice and showcase my email writing skills in the hopes of landing a daily email client.

My list building strategy consisted of sharing content with my tiny Twitter following...

And I mailed 7 days a week from day one.

As luck would have it…

The strategy worked.

Within a few months, I landed a daily email client with TWO lists to write for.

My income jumped from less than 2k/month to 8-10k/month almost overnight.

Only problem was…

That early success made it tough to keep up with my own list.

I was cranking out 14 emails per week for my client...

So, eventually, I gave up on my personal list to focus on client work.

This felt right at the time...

But I later regretted the decision.

Because my list would probably be 20x bigger than it is now had I stuck with it.

Things have still turned out just fine, don’t get me wrong…

Yet the point I’m trying to make is:

This is the classic "catch-22" of client work.

You get so busy serving clients that you neglect your own business.

You take money now, but give up more money later.

The more successful you become with client work, the less time you have to build your own assets.

You're stuck trading time for money instead of building something that compounds…

And can eventually serve as your one-way ticket to freedom.
