In case you missed it:

OpenAI released their new model of ChatGPT about a week ago.

Founder Sam Altman described it as:

“Like having a team of PhD-level experts in your pocket.”

And given that I’m gearing up for my AI Storyselling Machine workshop next week…

I figured I should take this new GPT-5 for a test drive.

You see, I’ve been using Claude for all of my AI writing for months now…

Simply because the outputs are lightyears ahead of anything ChatGPT can produce.

But, I thought:

Perhaps this new model could give Claude a run for its money?

Spoiler alert:

It cannot.

In fact, I think it might be even WORSE at email copywriting than the old o3 model was.

(and I’m not the only one who thinks so… there’s been quite a backlash on social media)

Anyway, here’s how I structured my little experiment:

I set up the AI Storyselling Machine as a custom GPT inside ChatGPT…

(similar to how it’s set up as a Project inside my Claude account)

Then gave both Claude and GPT-5 the exact same instructions…

To see what they spit out on first attempt.

The email I got back from Claude was basically send-ready right out of the box.

As expected.

Meanwhile:

The email from GPT-5 was awful.

It didn’t sound like me or follow my 4-step formula.

Despite receiving the exact same training knowledge and instructions.

Suffice it to say:

I won’t be replacing Claude anytime soon.

Yet I know many people in my audience like ChatGPT because it’s gotten to know their voice over time thanks to the memory feature…

While others are unwilling or unable to spring for another AI subscription.

Which I totally understand.

So on the workshop next week…

First, I’m going to show you the head-by-head comparison so you can see the difference in quality between the chatbots with your own eyes.

But then, if you’d still prefer to use ChatGPT to write your emails…

I’ll show you how to set it up so you can do that too.

Sound good?

P.S:

The workshop is coming up fast.

I’ll be sending a few more emails than usual over the next couple of days just to make sure you don’t miss out.

After that, we’ll be back to our regularly-scheduled programming :)
