Happy Thursday!
I’m scrambling to get this out before I leave for the airport, so I have to make this quick…
But I recently did a monster deep dive on unsubscribes across all my sequences and broadcasts…
And it turned up a finding I thought you’d find interesting.
Normally, I don’t pay much attention to unsubscribes…
And I’d certainly NEVER go to the trouble of tabulating them all by hand…
But being able to connect AI to your CRM makes it possible to run all kinds of fun analyses you’d never otherwise do.
Case in point:
I didn’t just calculate how many people had unsubscribed.
Instead, I cross-referenced unsubscribes against purchase history so I could see the breakdown by first order purchase value.
And the numbers backed up the hunch I had:
76% of the people who’ve EVER unsubscribed from my list bought my book for $3 and nothing else.
Isn’t that interesting?
The simple act of taking a single order bump made someone wayyyy less likely to unsubscribe.
Not just in the first 15 or 30 days… but ever.
Wild.
It’s also a very comforting data point.
Why?
Because it proves the people who unsubscribe are the least invested to begin with.
I talk to so many experts who are afraid to email more often…
Scared that every additional send will trigger an avalanche of unsubscribes their list will never recover from.
Yet when you look at who actually leaves, the numbers paint a different picture.
You aren’t losing your best customers or diehard fans…
You’re losing the folks who were barely in to begin with.
Make sense?
I hope so.
