Flash back to 2020:

I was reading the news one day when I stumbled across this headline:

I’d been an avid reader of Morning Brew for some time…

So I wasn’t surprised to see they’d sold to Business Insider.

But what did shock me was the sale value:

The deal valued MB at 75 million dollars…

And according to Axios, the founders raised “very little capital upfront” to launch it.

Not too shabby lol

I started to dig a little deeper and found out they were charging ~50k for a single primary sponsor placement at the time.

I couldn’t believe it.

My first thought after finding this out was:

Running a business where the email IS the product sounds amazing.

You see…

Unlike most other businesses where email is a bridge to what they sell…

For Morning Brew and other companies following the same playbook…

They’re able to sell space inside their newsletter and charge a king’s ransom for it.

No tripwires, sales funnels, or member’s areas necessary.

Pretty damn cool, if you ask me.

Not to say replicating their success would be easy by any means…

Yet there’s a ton to learn from what they’ve done.
