True story:

A few weeks ago, I launched a new ad campaign to grow my newsletter.

But this campaign was different from the other ones I’d been running for the last six months.

Instead of a lead generation campaign…

(where I advertised a free guide to entice people to join my list)

This was a purchase campaign.

Meaning:

I scrapped the free guide and drove traffic directly to a sales page for a $37 product.

Within 24 hours, I had my first sale:

As you can imagine, I was pretty friggin hyped.

Yet the funny thing is…

I’ve been writing ads for other coaches, consultants, and experts for years as part of my day job.

A handful of which have generated multiple 6 or even 7 figures in sales.

So it’s not like this was a new experience for me.

In fact, I didn’t think it was really going to affect me at all.

But there was something electrifying about seeing that sale come through knowing it was MY ad, MY product, and MY audience.

Even though it was only a $37 sale…

It just hit different.

And that’s the moral of today’s story:

Building for yourself is so much more satisfying than building for other people.

The sense of freedom is truly tangible…

Like when that first spoonful of mint chip ice cream hits your lips…

And the sooner you get a taste of it…

The more motivated you’ll be to keep pushing.

Whether your ultimate goal is earning a few extra bucks, world domination, or anything else in between.
